How exactly? Let's break it down...

#1 THE PRICE TAG

Before we delve into the cost of ownership, let’s begin with the obvious. Industrial Physics machines are much more affordable to purchase.

While other providers may use their presence in the market to charge more, this is not the approach we choose to take.

We also offer a standard volume discount by virtue of our satellite expansion module programme.

#2 COST OF GAS REQUIRED FOR OPERATION

If you’re looking to purchase an oxygen (OTR) instrument, there’s a substantial difference in the price of nitrogen gas our instruments use compared to the gas required by instruments from alternative providers.

While other systems require a nitrogen/hydrogen mix, our instruments need a simple high purity nitrogen gas. The gas used by other providers is around 3 times more expensive than the gas we use (at the very minimum). And this doesn’t impact accuracy or compliance to standards in the slightest.

We also put this gas to more efficient use – rather than using it on opening and closing the test cells, our instruments have a patented Q-Seal leak free, simple mechanical closure system.

#3 LONGER LASTING, MORE AFFORDABLE OXYGEN SENSORS

Not only do our oxygen sensors cost about half the price of sensors from other providers, ours last around 8-10 years. Choose a competitor over us? You’ll likely be changing your sensor a few times over the next 8-10 years.

This means you won’t have to undergo the additional costs that come with sensor replacements - you can put it out of your mind for close to a decade.

#4 WATER SENSOR REPLACEMENTS WITH ZERO DOWNTIME

It might be tough to believe, but our Phosphorous Pentoxide sensors are more accurate, more affordable, and much easier to manage than IR sensor base instruments. The Infra-Red sensors used by other providers are not only more expensive, but they also require a service technician to install them. And while our sensor is Coulometric, the alternative sensors require continued calibration.

Our WVTR sensors may have a shorter life span than an IR sensor, but the benefits are much greater. Let’s explain why:

1. Our sensors can be reworked and used repeatedly - the cost for this is nominal compared to the price of an IR sensor. When the original sensor is finished, it’s easy to replace - you just need to take it out, install the next one, and send it back to us. We’ll then rebuild it and send it straight back to you – while this is happening, your second sensor allows the instrument to keep running.

2.  Our instruments are carefully designed for you to easily remove and install a sensor on your own and be back testing in a few hours. The instruments come with two sensors – this is so you never have to deal with unnecessary downtime and pay to have a technician replace the sensor for you.

With an alternative provider, you’re looking at a minimum of around 2-3 weeks of down time when your sensor needs to be replaced. Only you know how this will impact your business, but wouldn’t it make more sense to minimise this as much as possible?

#5 BETTER REPAIR SERVICES

When you own permeation equipment, it’s important to factor in servicing costs – in fact, we have our own dedicated services experts in place to handle this. Our service rates are considerably lower than the biggest provider – you’ll save around 25%.

Alongside this, we also offer a “Free for life of ownership” remote servicing package – you can connect your instrument to a remote diagnostic software that lets our dedicated team access your instrument, diagnose any issues, and correct minor issues. Our customers find this incredibly useful - right now more than ever before.

#6 GAS VALIDATION SENSOR COST

Some providers require you to purchase specific calibration/validation films that are both expensive and somewhat suspect from a scientific perspective. While these films may be marketed as “NIST certified”, there is in fact no such thing as an officially recognized NIST certified film. This marketing approach may be intended to give the films more credibility, but the reality is that these are just films bought on the open market.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that every time you test with these films, your instrument will be shut down for 2-3 days. And it’s recommended that you test every month. That’s 2-3 days of not being able to use your machine every four weeks. We don’t need to explain to you what a colossal waste of productivity this is.

So, while some suppliers require you to purchase their own “certified” films, this isn’t the approach we choose to take. Our systems are designed for you to use true third-party certified gas concentrate - and what’s more, performing a certified gas validation only takes a couple of hours to complete. It’s simple, it saves you money, and it saves you a lot of time.
