The AUTO-XTS is a fully-automated, on-line or stand-alone measurement system that provides non-destructive, complete double seam inspection for beverage fillers and metal cans.

X-Ray Principle

  • The X-Ray tube is containing a filament in combination with a high voltage cathode and anode.
  • The filament is powered with a certain voltage. Similar to a classic lightbulb the filament is heating up and exposing electrodes. A high voltage power is connected across cathode and anode, which is generating an electric field. Within this electric field, the electrons are accelerated against the anode.
  • The electrons are hitting the target material, applied to the anode, accelerating other electrons, ions and nuclei within the target material. This is generating energy, of which about 1% is emitted as X-Rays.

  • In the instrument, the X-Ray tube is additionally equipped with a control grid. This grid stops the electrons from acceleration. ​
  • This control grid allows a fine control of X-Ray exposure times.​
  • With this „Shutter technology“ we can improve the image quality and reduce the measurement time.
